PBA: Batang Pier score back-to-back wins
Globalport doubled up on Blackwater in the third to erase a 12-point deficit and take control of the game.

ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- When Globalport's offense clicks, it's one of the best in the league.

The Batang Pier got back-to-back wins in the 2018 PBA Commissioner's Cup, outgunning the struggling Blackwater Elite, 117-106, Wednesday at the Ynares Center here.

Globalport doubled up on Blackwater in the third to erase a 12-point deficit and take control of the game.

And while the Batang Pier slowed down a little bit in the fourth, their 18-point lead was too much for the Elite to overcome in the end.

"Anyway, it's a total team effort, but at the same time there are special players ano, na talaga nag-step up especially Sean Anthony. Then si Stanley, consistent. Medyo nag-relax kami, 19 points up, and then we were too relaxed, playing around kaya ayan nagka-pressure nung last three minutes," head coach Pido Jarencio said.

"Marami pa aayusin pero at least yung chemistry nanjan na kahit papaano," he added.

Down 12 in the first half, 40-52, the Batang Pier rallied in the second to turn the table in their favor.

Globalport outscored the Elite in the third period, 35-17, and at one point were up by 18, 99-81. Blackwater though, would go down swinging, cutting the deficit back down to five before the Batang Pier finished things off with one final run in the last two minutes.

Three players scored over 20 points for Jarencio's crew with Sean Anthony leading the now 2-1 Batang Pier with 29 points, 13 in the pivotal third quarter. He also had 13 rebounds and eight assists for a near triple-double.

Import Malcolm White had 28 and Stanley Pringle finished with 26 points.

The Elite, who lost their first game with new coach Bong Ramos, got 41 points and 22 rebounds from Jarrid Famous but it wasn't enough for the team to avoid a 0-4 start in the mid-season joust.
