Stanley Pringle will make his Philippine team debut in the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.
ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal --- Stanley Pringle was a surprise pick for the Philippine team competing in the upcoming 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup in June.
As the final lineup was announced last week, it turns out Pringle was just as surprised as anyone.
However, the high-scoring Globalport star says the surprise is an absolute blessing, especially since it's going to be his first time wearing Philippine colors in an international tournament.
"I was surprised, it was an honor so as soon as they told me, I was like, 'yeah I'm in there,'" Pringle said.
"It's been a blessing, man. When they first asked me to do it, there was no question. I had to support it, anything for the Philippines," he added.
The former no. 1 pick says that his actual 3x3 experience is limited.
However, Pringle noted that regardless of form, it's still just basketball. And he's pretty good at playing basketball.
"I played 3-on-3 maybe when I was like 12 years old," he said.
"But no, it's just basketball. I'm pretty sure they're going to tell me the rules and I'm going to make the right adjustment and play hard, give it everything I got," Pringle added.
Stanley will team up with fellow no. 1 pick Christian Standhardinger for the Philippines. Also in the team are Troy Rosario and RR Pogoy.
The 2018 World Cup is hosted by the country and is set for June 8-12 at the Philippine Arena.
