BOCAUE, Bulacan --- The 3x3 game seems like it was made for Stanley Pringle.
Making his national team debut, Pringle was absolutely sensational, leading the Philippines to a 15-7 win over Brazil Saturday to start Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the 2018 FIBA World Cup at the Philippine Arena here.
Brazilian defenders were at the mercy of Pringle as the Globalport star repeatedly beat his opponents one-on-one on his way to strong drives to the hoop.
The result was making a team-high four field-goals for four points in the victory.
"3 on 3, there's only six players on the court so there's more space than 10 players," Pringle said.
"So it gives me more freedom to move around," he added.
Playing his first game for the national team, Pringle finally felt that signature love from Pinoy fans in attendance.
It was almost surreal for him.
"It feels great man, they supported me the whole time. I'm really happy," Pringle said on his debut.
"They always show their support," he added of the fans. "It adds to the motivation and I'm glad we put a good game for them."
Starting the World Cup on a winning note is crucial for Gilas says Pringle.
They wrap up their first day of pool play against Mongolia.
"It keeps us alive. We gotta win three out of four so this is defintely good for us," Pringle said.
