Even though he is a native of Parañaque, Ray Parks, Jr. signed with the El Tigre, and got love from local government unit, from no other than Mayor Menchie Abalos herself.
It's that time of the year. The second conference of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), the Datu Cup, will open tomorrow at the Big Dome, just in time for Independence Day.
The fastest-growing basketball league in the country, which as adopted the home-and-away format in their games, has gotten some big names just like Ray Parks, Jr., the two-time reigning Local MVP of the ASEAN Basketball League.
The son of PBA legend Ray Parks, Sr. has signed with expansion team Mandaluyong El Tigre, and will play alongside Prince Rivero, the recuperating Thomas Torres, JR Alabanza, among others.
Even though he is a native of Parañaque, he signed with the El Tigre, and got love from local government unit, from no other than Mayor Menchie Abalos herself.
Parks got the local sneaker, dubbed MandaMentality, a homage to Kobe Bryant's #MambaMentality.
In this post, Mayor Abalos signed the sneaker and handed it to Parks, Jr., as a limited-edition, one-of-a-kind pair of shoes.
Parks hopes that the welcome gesture can boost the start of their season.
The MPBL Datu Cup will start tomorrow and will be seen LIVE on ABS-CBN S+A and S+A HD every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
