BOCAUE, Bulacan --- The best shooter from the 2018 FIBA 3x3 World Cup is Janine Pontejos.

The 5'5" deadshot scored 14 points in the final of the shootout contest Tuesday at the Philippine Arena here, beating Russia's Alexandra Stolyar and Maksim Dybovskii as well as Croatia's Marin Hrvoje.
The final featured the top-2 shooters from the men and women and the women earned the gold and silver medals.
Pontejos and Stolyar actually both scored 14 points, one shy of the all-time record, but Janine scored 14 in a faster time.
Janine scored 14 in 41.86 seconds while Stolyar got the mark in 49.92 seconds. That was the ultimate difference.
"Nagpapa-salamat po ako sa mga suporta samin, sakin. Sa mga nag-pray para dito sa contest na to, maraming salamat po.," Pontejos said.
"Inisip ko kahit natalo kami, hindi ako nawalan ng pag-asa na itayo yung [flag ng] Pilipinas kasi may natitira pang shootout. Lumakas yung loob ko dahil sa mga teammates ko na nagpu-push sakin pati mga coaches ko," she added.
Pontejos was on fire, at one point making eight straight shots including a perfect second rack. She also made two out of three money balls.
Stolyar shot next after Pontejos and the competition came down to the final money ball rack. The Russian needed all thee to win outright and at least two to tie. She missed the first one and took time to make the last two.
Marine Hrvoje settled for bronze with 11 points.
