FIBA: Norwood excited for his first PH Arena experience
Gabe will suit up for Gilas Pilipinas Monday at the Philippine Arena, taking on Australia for first place in Group B to round up the opening round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Gabe Norwood has been in the PBA for a while now and yet he's never been to the incredible Philippine Arena to play a game.

That's maybe because Rain or Shine is not Ginebra.

Still, having the chance to play at a venue with 55,000 seats is an experience in itself and now, Norwood's "patience" will pay off.

Gabe will suit up for Gilas Pilipinas Monday at the Philippine Arena, taking on Australia for first place in Group B to round up the opening round of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

"I'm excited it's my first time playing there," Norwood said of the Philippine Arena.

"I even missed the [PBA] opening [ceremonies] there, it will be my first experience playing and being in the gym, I know it's going to be crazy. It's exciting," he added.

While it's definitely exciting going up against the Boomers, Norwood can't deny the fact that the Qualifiers are starting to take its toll on the players mentally.

Gabe mentioned that the third window has been the most challenging so far as it came with even less preparation for Gilas and the core of the national team are in the middle of the heated Commissioner's Cup playoff race.

The Commissioner's Cup of course, is only the second of three PBA conferences.

But all that should go away once the national team takes the court against Australia in front of what should be a wild home crowd.

"The PBA season is a long season, we still have another conference to go. It's just mentally kind of draining," Norwood said.

"But at the same time, once you put the flag on your chest, that goes away and you find a hidden boost," he added.

Gilas Pilipinas will have Australia on deck Monday at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
