SBP apologizes for brawl:
In a statement released Tuesday, the SBP issued an apology to everyone from breaking the supposed world-class Filipino hospitality.

MANILA, Philippines --- The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) finally broke its silence with regards to the ugly brawl that transpired Monday between Gilas Pilipinas and the Australian national team in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

In a statement released Tuesday, the SBP issued an apology to everyone from breaking the supposed world-class Filipino hospitality.

Despite the action of the Filipino players, the SBP maintains that violence has no place in basketball.

"The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas apologizes to Filipino basketball fans and to the basketball community for the incident that occured during last night's game," the statement read.

"As hosts, we regret having breached the bounds of traditional Filipino hospitality. As the national team representing flag and country, we likewise extend our apologies to the Filipino people," the statement added.

FIBA is in the process of reviewing the incident while the Australian Basketball Federation is doing its own investigation.

With regards to that, the SBP will also do its own review and will wait for the official FIBA ruling on whether or not the country and its players will face sanctions.

As for the teams, the Boomers reportedly already left the country while Gilas Pilipinas is set to have a private dinner Tuesday night.
