Eight-division boxing world champion Manny Pacquiao is no stranger to throwing punches on the biggest stages in the world.
That is, after all, what made him a household name all over the world.
The thirteen players involved in the ugly brawl that ensued during the Gilas Pilipinas versus Australia FIBA World Cup Qualifiers match at the Philippine Arena however, had no business throwing hands at all.
The fight, which of course went viral within minutes of happening, left four Australians and nine Filipinos ejected from what was an otherwise non-bearing game.
Australia went on to win, 89-53, by default, and the FIBA will be reviewing the incident and most likely, sanctions will be handed out.
When asked about the fiasco, Pacquiao said that the players involved should have done a better job of keeping their emotions in check, especially the boys in blue, being that the Philippines was the host for the night.
Pacquiao, who once owned a team and even played in the PBA, added that while the mounting tension in a very physical contest was understandable, it should not have escalated the way it did.
Instead of jumping in the melee, the other players should have tried to pacify the situaiton.
Dapat between them lang, yung naglalaro, yung dalawang players, ang pangyayari. Dapat ang away nila, awatin nila."
"Nakakahiya kasi host tayo eh." Pacquiao continued.

While many have their opinions on Pacquiao in and out of the ring, one thing that can be said about the "Pambansang Kamao" is that he's always been gracious, whether in victory or defeat.
The boxing Hall of Famer and Philippine senator agreed that the players who figured in the physicality should offer up an apology.
Sen @mannypacquiao thinks that the players involved should apologize. #FIBAWCQ #FIBAWC #PacquiaoMatthysse pic.twitter.com/6vqMhHb707— DYAN CASTILLEJO (@DYANCASTILLEJO) July 3, 2018
A day after the incident, players involved such as NBA player Thon Maker and Gilas stars Japeth Aguilar, Andray Blatche, and Gabe Norwood have also offered apologies for the mess.
