"We wish to apologize to the entire basketball community worldwide - and in particular to our fantastic fans in the Philippines and Australia - for the behavior displayed by both teams and for bringing the game of basketball into disrepute," the statement, undersigned by SBP President Al Panlilio and BA President Ned Coten, read.

MANILA, Philippines --- In a joint statement, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and Basketball Australia are continuing to apologize for the unfortunate brawl between Gilas and the Boomers on July 2 at the Philippine Arena.

The brawl left 13 players ejected and has dominated the news all week.

"We wish to apologize to the entire basketball community worldwide - and in particular to our fantastic fans in the Philippines and Australia - for the behavior displayed by both teams and for bringing the game of basketball into disrepute," the statement, undersigned by SBP President Al Panlilio and BA President Ned Coten, read.

"We fully accep our responsibility and are collaborating in the ongoing proceedings to investigate the incidents," the statement added.

While both basketball federations are doing their own investigations, FIBA is yet to come out with a final ruling.
