SBP expects final ruling on basketbrawl by end of month
According to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Al Panlilio, they have until July 10 to submit their official stand to FIBA regarding the unfortunate Gilas-Boomers brawl last July 2 at the Philippine Arena.

It might take a while before we find out just what sort of punishment Gilas Pilipinas will receive from FIBA.

According to Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Al Panlilio, they have until July 10 to submit their official stand to FIBA regarding the unfortunate Gilas-Boomers brawl last July 2 at the Philippine Arena.

In a press conference Thursday at the PBA office in Libis, Panlilio said they got a letter from FIBA Tuesday night, roughly 24 hours after the incident.

"As you all know, there is a panel formed by FIBA, we got the letter Tuesday night and we're given until midnight of July 10, Swiss time, to submit our position," Panlilio said.

With FIBA doing its own inversitgation regarding the fact, Panlilio refused to elaborate on SBP's stand and instead will just wait on the final ruling.

"Since it's an ongoing investigation, we'd rather keep it at that for the meantime. It will be difficult for us to comment on a lot of these things until the investigation is over," Panlilio added.

There is no official timetable on FIBA's decision though Panlilio expects it to be done before the end of the month.

Perhaps even sooner.

"They've asked Basketball Australia of the same thing, my estimate may be by the end of the month, but again that's just an estimate," Panlilio said on FIBA's final ruling.

"Knowing FIBA, I think they will swiftly go through the process and make a decision," he added.
