Fil-American prospect Jalen Green took home MVP honors in the recently-concluded FIBA U-17 World Cup in Argentina
Filipino-American high school basketball star Jalen Green left his mark in the recently-concluded FIBA U-17 World Cup in Argentina, after helping lead the United States to their fifth FIBA U-17 championship.
Aside from the U-17 title, Green also took home tournament MVP honors after averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game for the US, highlighted by a 27-point outing in their 126-52 destruction of Croatia in the quarterfinals, and a 25-point effort in their 120-71 drubbing of Canada in the semifinals.
In the title-clinching win over France, Green finished with 11 points in just over 15 minutes of action.
Green was also named to the tournament's All-Star Five, inlcuding USA teammate Vernon Carey Jr., France's Killian Hayes, Andre Curbelo from Puerto Rico, and Oumar Ballo of Mali.
The 16-year old Green, whose Pinoy roots can be traced back to Ilocos Sur, is one of the United States' top-ranked basketball prospects, and was at one point the top-ranked sophomore in the country. He currently plays for San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, California.
Back in March, Green came to the Philippines and showcased his talent as part of the FilAm Sports USA contingent in the NBTC National Finals.
Green also wowed fans after showcasing his hops in the NBTC Dunk Contest.
