MACAU --- Pinoy teams hold serve to start the Summer Super 8 tournament.
Blackwater managed to hold off a pesky Samsung Thunders squad Tuesday at the East Asian Games Dome here, taking a 78-67 decision in the invitational tournament organized by Asia League.
The Elite picked up their first win in group B, joining NLEX as early winners of the Macau joust. The Road Warriors earlier smashed the Formosa Dreamers in group B.
Blackwater was in control for most of the game, taking several double digit leads starting in the second period.
But the Thunders would simply not go away and the Elite had to rely on a strong fourth-quarter finish to put the game away. A 10-0 run for a 76-62 lead essentially iced the game in favor of Blackwater.
