MACAU --- Opening day for the 2018 Summer Super 8 is in the books.

Filipino teams went 2-0 Tuesday at the East Asian Games Dome here with NLEX smashing Formosa, 94-68, and Blackwater holding off the pesky Samsung Thunders, 78-67.

In the primetime games, KBL's Etland Elephants stunned the Xinjian Flying Tigers from the CBA.

Jeong Hyo Geun led the Elephants with 19 points on 70 percent shooting from the field while Kim Sang Kyu and Jung Young Sam scored 17 apiece.

Hong Gyeong Ki added another 11 points for good measure.

The Flying Tigers, who sent a strong 9-man contingent to Macau, got 17 points from team captain Sun Tonglin.

In the final game of the day, the Guangzhou Long Lions scrapped their way for a 68-62 win over Japan's Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka.

Ju Mingxin fired 24 points as the Long Lions got the Chinese on the board in Group B.
