MACAU --- Another Filipino team falls victim to impeccable Korean shooting.
Etland stomped the NLEX Road Warriors Wednesday at the East Asian Games dome here as the Elephants dominated the second half on their way to a 75-60 win in the Summer Super 8 tournament.
Up by only two at the break, a late third-quarter blitz helped the Elephants take a 57-47 lead heading into the final 10 minutes.
Come the fourth period, Kim Sang Kyu drilled three open triples and the Koreans just shot lights out all the way through, rolling to a 15-point victory.
"Pumutok yung tres nila eh nung end of third and into the fourth," head coach Yeng Guiao said.
"Typical Korean system naman. For two and a half quarters we were defending them well. Actually first half nga namin nagagandahan kami," he added.
NLEX dragged the Koreans in a dogfight in the first half but failed to sustain it all the way through and ended up giving a total of 15 treys for the Elephants.
Park Sung Jin paced Etland with 14 points while Park Bong Jin had a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The win pushed Etland to 2-0 in Group A and the Elephants have essentially advanced to the next round barring any major developments.
For the Road Warriors, Mark Tallo was the only one in double figures, scoring 13. NLEX (1-1) will be in a do-or-die situation Thursday against Xinjiang.
