MACAU --- As far as Blackwater is concerned, the foreign training in preparation for the PBA Governors' Cup is still a success.

The Elite failed to advance to the semifinals of the Summer Super 8 tournament here, finishing third in Group B behind China's Guangzhou Long Lions and Korea's Samsung Thunders.

However, Blackwater split its games against both teams, beathing Samsung and dropping one against the Lions. All three teams ended up with identical 2-1 records and the Elite barely missed out on the semis due to inferior quotient.

Thursday in the final day of Group play, Blackwater handled its business, dominating Rizing Zephyr Fukuoka of Japan, 90-66, but it wasn't enough to make up the quotient deficit.

"Okay lang, basta kami na-achieve namin yung dalawang panalo," head coach Bong Ramos said.

"Ako naman, sabi ko lang sa mga players, 'you did your part,'" he added.

In Blackwater's foreign buildup for the next PBA conference, the Elite won a pocket tournament in Indonesia and played well here in Macau.

That's a success for the Elite.

"Syempre marami pa kaming kailangan improve, although meron ng mga points na nag improve ang team pati yung adjustment nila sa sistema na ginagawa ko, offensively and defensively, and naiintindihan na nila kung bakit ako nagagalit," Ramos said.

"Chemistry maayos na, siguro yung toughness na lang mentally, isa yun sa mga dapat improve, tapos yung level ng energy and enthusiasm sa loob," he added.

For now, it's time for some proper rest for Blackwater before heading back to work.

"Break kami mga one week kasi di naman kami nagpahinga," Ramos said.

"Pero active rest yun," he added.
