MACAU --- The Elephants stomp on NLEX again.

Etland secured third place in the Super 8 tournament here Sunday, beating the Road Warriors, 67-62, at the East Asian Games Dome.

In the rematch four days in the making, the Elephants  score another one on NLEX for a podium finish. Etland finished with a 4-1 record in Macau while the Road Warriors settle for fourth with a 2-3 mark.

NLEX was in the middle of completing its second half comeback before an unnecessary unsporstmanlike foul by Michael Miranda robbed the Road Warriors of momentum.

Mac Tallo was already called for a regular foul after he slipped and hit Etland's Jung Young Sam but on the follow through, Miranda gave up a hard foul, hitting Jung to the face.

Jung made four free throws and turned a 61-56 lead into a 65-56 advantage with less than two minutes to go.

The Road Warriors scored seven straight to cut the deficit to three, 62-65, but Miranda committed another unsportsmanlike foul with 3.2 seconds left to practically hand the win to the Elephants.

"We're just thankful that we were able to participate in this tournament. We’re looking forward for probably next time, if ever we're invited again," head coach Yeng Guiao said.

"About this game, we felt that we played a lot better this game than the first time we played this same Korean team. The difference is we just gave them too many free throws. We turned the ball over too many times during the crucial moments," he added.

Jeong Hyo Geun led the Elephants with 13 points and six rebounds while Jung and Kim Sang Kyu added 11 each.

For the Road Warriors, Juami Tiongson and Michael Miranda scored 12 points apiece.
