Marikina gifted Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson with a win in his MPBL debut
Gerald Anderson finally made his debut in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Anta-Datu Cup.
Energized by his arrival, Erwin Sta. Maria, Ronald Roy, and the rest of Marikina ran away from Quezon City in the final frame for a 78-74 decision last Thursday at the Pasig Sports Center.
Sta. Maria posted a 22-point, 12-rebound double-double for the Shoemasters, but it was Roy who took over in the endgame where he dropped all of his 19 points as they improved to 2-3.
Kapamilya star Anderson was scoreless in 13 minutes on the court where he went 0-for-6. Still, his presence was a big boost to the morale of his team which suffered three straight setbacks heading into the matchup.
Jojo Duncil and Andoy Estrella topped the scoring column for the now 1-3 Capitals with 14 points each.
In the day’s other game, Zamboanga added to the misery of home team Pasig, 92-78.
Reed Juntilla scored 23 points to lead the Valientes in hiking their record to 3-2.
For the still winless Pirates, Ronjay Enrile was the high man with 22 points.
