Twin towers Edu, Sotto lift Batang Gilas to 43-point rout of UAE

How big has the Philippines gotten and how times have changed now in the 2018 FIBA Asia Under-18 Championship.
On the shoulders of AJ Edu and Kai Sotto, Batang Gilas imposed their will all over United Arab Emirates for a dominant 43-point win, 92-49, on Monday at the Stadium 29 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Filipino-Nigerian Edu was a force down low for the second straight game with 16 points, eight rebounds, and one block while Sotto also did his part with 14 markers and eight boards.
The Filipino twin towers, well, towered above the competition, and led their team to a 10-0 start they would never look back from.
Reserve big men Raven Cortez and Bismarck Lina also joined in on the fun with a combined 12 points and 19 rebounds in Batang Gilas’ second win in as many games in the tournament.
In all, Batang Gilas had their way against their opponents in rebounding, 66-26, and points in the paint, 40-22.
At the wings, Rhayyan Amsali and Xyrus Torres had good showings as well with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Following another convincing victory, however, the toughest test yet will be in front of the Philippines as it takes on likewise undefeated China on Tuesday at 6:45 PM.
A win there would grant the Filipinos an automatic advance into the quarterfinals of the tournament.
