Gab Banal was on fire all Tuesday long - starting from the PBA D-League and then continuing in the MPBL
Right from Game 2 of the Finals of the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup last Tuesday afternoon, Gab Banal headed for the Strike Gymnasium in Bacoor, Cavite.
There, he stayed hot to shoot the Strikers over very game visitors Laguna, 91-86, for their fourth straight win after a 0-2 start in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Anta-Datu Cup.
Banal posted a 25-point, 12-rebound double-double to go along with six assists.
This, just hours after tallying 33 points built on 7-of-8 shooting from threes while also collecting six rebounds and four assists in Go for Gold’s 105-81 Game 2 victory versus Che’Lu Bar and Grill in the best-of-five Finals of PBA D-League.
The versatile forward had much help from fellow Strikers Leo De Vera who pounded in 17 points and 12 rebounds and Mark Montuano who scored 20 markers of his own.
For the Heroes, Denok Miranda topped the scoring column with 29 points. Unable to douse cold water on Banal, though, they fell for the third time in a row and fell to a 2-4 record.
In the day’s other game, Davao Occidental got the better of Cebu, 71-64.
Billy Ray Robles showed the way for the now 3-3 Tigers with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Patrick Cabahug paced the Sharks with 14 points which proved to be insufficient in preventing their drop to 1-5.
