The time is now.
Jordan Clarkson will finally debut for Gilas Pilipinas Tuesday as the Philippine national team resumes its campaign in the 2018 Asian Games at Jakarta, Indonesia.
The Fil-Am combo guard of the Cleveland Cavaliers will get a huge test right out of the gate as Gilas takes on regional power China for practically first place in Group D.
Gilas is coming off an impressive 37-point win over Kazakhstan last week sans Clarkson, who missed the game due to his flight schedule.
After finally securing clearance to play in the Asian Games, Clarkson went straight to Jakarta from Los Angeles but didn't make it in time to start the game. He joined the national team in the third period of the win and watched from the sidelines.
While both Gilas and China are expected to move on to the next round of the Asian Games, the Philippines would need a win to avoid a tough draw in the knockout quarterfinals.
A loss would put Gilas in a possible collision with old nemesis South Korea while a while should put the national team in a showdown vs. host Indonesia for a semis slot.
Tip off for the anticipated Gilas-China game featuring Jordan Clarkson will be at 5:00 p.m. PHL time.
