MPBL: Rizal upsets Zambo; Clutch keep Pirates winless

Rizal and Navotas both scored much-needed wins in the resumption of action in the MPBL Anta-Datu Cup
It took a while, but both Rizal and Navotas have now registered their biggest wins in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
The Crusaders scored one of the biggest upsets of the season, coming from behind to frustrate erstwhile streaking Zamboanga, 77-73, last Tuesday at the Pasig Sports Center.
Rizal used a balanced offensive fronted by Marco Balagtas who had 15 points and eight rebounds and James Abugan who had 14 markers and four boards to improve to 2-5
They trailed by as much as 11 in the third quarter before Balagtas led them all the way back and all the way to a much-needed win.
For the now Valientes, Reed Juntilla topped the scoring column with 19 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists. They lost for only the second time in seven games.
Meanwhile, the Clutch shooed home team Pasig away from the win column with a 27-point rout, 97-70.
Matt Salem topped the scoring column with 14 points while Levi Hernandez and Michole Sorela chipped in 13 markers, respectively, to hike Navotas’ record to 3-3.
On the other hand, the Pirates remain winless through six games despite the best efforts of Boyet Bautista who had 20 points to his name.
