ASIAN GAMES By the Numbers: One for the road
The Philippines beat Syria to win 5th place in the 2018 Asian Games, still a worthy consolation especially after all the trouble this Gilas team had to go through just to make it to Jakarta. (PSC pool photo)

That's a wrap for Gilas Pilipinas in the 2018 Asian Games.

The Philippines beat Syria to win 5th place in the 2018 Asian Games, still a worthy consolation especially after all the trouble this Gilas team had to go through just to make it to Jakarta.

And so before we welcome our boys home for a job well done, a final by the numbers for our Philippine national team.

How does that sound? Sounds good.

29

Total points for Jordan Clarkson against Syria, his best output in the Asian Games.

Jordan saved his best for last, leading the Philippines to a masterful win against the overmatched Syrians to end the Asian Games on a high note.

26

Points per game for Jordan Clarkson in the Asian Games.

In four outings for Gilas, Clarkson went for 26 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks.

Not bad for his first international tournament for the Philippines, hopefully it's not his last.

5th

Final placing for Gilas in the Asian Games, best in this tournament in 16 years.

The Philippines placed fourth in 2002 in Busan, South Korea. Gilas placed a woeful 7th four years ago in Incheon.

27

Total points for Christian Standhardinger against Syria, matching his tournament high.

Standhardinger also scored 27 in the win against Japan, proving to be a worthy Robin to Jordan Clarkson's Batman in the Asian Games.

54

Final margin of victory against Syria.

It was the best win for the Philippines in the Asian Games this year. Gilas earlier beat Kazakhstan by 37 points and Japan by 33.
