It's been a while since Greg Slaughter was in actual consideration to make the national team and now that he's officially back, he brought some OG Gilas gear with him.

Slaughter showed up Monday wearing a classic Smart-Gilas Pilipinas practice jersey.

It was a subtle reminder that Slaughter has been with the Gilas program since its inception and it's quite sad that his best chance to make a final lineup is only happening about seven years later.

However, the reason for Slaughter's little throwback is really just simple in nature and had no other meaning behind it.

"I wasn't sure if they had my measurements or anything so I had to bring my uniform," Slaughter said on his OG gear.

"Luckily I got plenty of national team attire lying around so I just brought one over," he added.

It's been a long time since Slaughter was in national team practice that his thoughts on the gym has changed too.

Now, the Meralco Gym is decked with portraits of Bolts players and the air conditioning is top notch.

That was not the case when Slaughter was around the original Gilas team.

"It's a lot different over here, they got a lot of Meralco players everywhere. The air conditioner is up now," he said.

"I remember before when we were practicing here in the old national team, it was summer at 3:00 p.m. with no air conditioning," Greg added.

Despite the changes, the feeling of representing the country remains the same for Slaughter.

It always feels good.

"The gym's a lot nicer but it just feels good to be playing with the national team again," he said.

"You can just feel the energy here, what we're playing for is not just for us, it's for the hundreds of millions of Filipinos out there," Slaughter added.
