With coach Chot Reyes choosing to step down for good, there's quite an important vacant position in Team Pilipinas and MVP is hopeful that coach Yeng is the man for the job.
MANILA, Philippines --- Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Chairman Emeritus Manny V. Pangilinan pretty much wants Coach Yeng Guiao to fully take over Gilas Pilipinas.
Guiao handled the national team in the Asian Games and was originally set to continue coaching Gilas until the fourth window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
Well that window is over and Coach Yeng went 1-1, losing to Iran on the road before bouncing back to beat Qatar at home.
However, with Coach Chot Reyes choosing to step down for good, there's quite an important vacant position in Team Pilipinas and MVP is hopeful that coach Yeng is the man for the job.

"Yeah, I think so," MVP said when asked if Guiao will still coach Gilas moving forward.
"I hope all the way na to the World Cup. Yun ang objective, di ba?" he added.
MVP was on deck Monday at the Araneta Coliseum for the closed-door bout between Gilas and Qatar.
The Philippines initially went down by 17 points before recovering and winning by 11 points in the end, improving its record to 5-3 in the Asian Qualifiers.
"Wag tayo mawalan ng pag-asa," Pangilinan said.
"We'll get there sa World Cup. I'm confident under coach Yeng [we'll qualify] sa World Cup," he added.
