MACAU --- Ben Mbala and the Thunders are through to the semis.
Samsung Seoul dominated the Shandong Golden Stars Wednesday at the Studio City Event Center here, picking up an 85-73 victory in the Asia League's Terrific 12 tournament.
The Thunders swept Group D, eliminating the Golden Stars and the Fubon Braves in the process.
Seoul will meet the Guangzhou Long Lions in the semifinals this weekend. That matchup is a rematch from the Super 8 two months ago.
Guangzhou won that game.
The Thunders were firing on all cylinders to start, dropping 32 points right in the opening period.
Seoul then clamped down on defense in the second, limiting the Golden Stars to only nine points to break the game wide open, taking a 21-point lead at the break.
The Koreans were never threatened in the second half as they led by as many as 24.
"We expected a hard game so we asked the team to focus and approach the game as a shooting drill, relax, take shots," head coach Lee Sang-min said.
"Unexpectedly, we shot 60 percent from three and the game was over at halftime," he added.
Glenn Cosey and Ben Mbala scored 21 and 19 points respectively for the Thunders while top local Lee Gwan Hee added another 17 points on 58 percent shooting.
Donatas Motiejunas paced Shandong with 15 points.
