MACAU --- No more Al Jefferson in the Asia League's Terrific 12 tournament.
The NBA veteran missed his first game fir the Xinjiang Wednesday at the Studio City here and his Flying Tigers team ended up taking a 59-74 loss to Japan's Ryukyu Golden Kings.
It turns out that Jefferson, who last played in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, had some health issues to deal with.
"He had a complication. He was supposed to be here earlier to get ready for the tournament. He had a health complication which brought him in later," Xinjiang head coach Brian Warwick Goorjian revealed.
"Then before he suits up, he has to have a physical, so as we were playing, he was having his physical," he added.
Jefferson arrived in Macau Wednesday morning but it looks like his health issues will force him to miss Xinjiang's game against the Philippines' iECO Green Warriors Thursday as well.
That matchup is just for a win though as Ryukyu already clinched a semis seat by beating the Flying Tigers.
"I dont think we'll play him tomorrow. We got one game left but its probably not a good idea. We'll play with what we got," coach Goorjian said.
"This was a very big game for us [vs. Ryukyu]. Had we won tonight we could've seen him [Jefferson] because we don't play two or three more games," he added.
