MACAU --- A couple of breaks here and there and Mobis Phoebus could have been in the semifinals of the Asia League's Terrific 12 tournament here.
Behind a double-double from Ricardo Ratliffe, Mobis Phoebus survived the Chiba Jets, 77-71, Thursday at the Studio City Event Center.
Ratliffe scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Mobis Phoebus as they finished the tournament with a 1-1 mark.
Unfortunately, the six-time KBL champions failed to advance. Mobis Phoebus was eliminated Wednesday after a one-point loss in overtime to China's Guangzhou Long Lions.
The win pushed the Long Lions to 2-0 in Group B which was enough to clinch a semis seat.
Against the Jets, Mobis had another tough game but they clamped down on defense in the fourth, holding Chiba to only seven points to grind out the victory.
Shannon Shorter added 17 points for Mobis Phoebus.
For the Jets, it was Josh Duncan that led the way with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
In other results, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers managed to hold off the iECO Green Warriors in a close one, 107-103. Darius Adams flirted with a triple-double and dropped 45 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists.
Tiras Wade scored 24 for the Green Warriors.
Taipei's Fubon Braves used a brave fourth-quarter stand to stun the Shandong Golden Stars, 82-79. Fubon dropped a 26-9 bomb in the final 10 minutes to score the comeback win.
Finally, the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins clinched the last semis berth following a 79-71 decision over the Zhejiang Lions.
