MACAU --- Guangzhou silences the Thunders again.
The Long Lions moved on to another Asia League Finals after beating Seoul Samsung Saturday at the Studio City Event Center here, 88-74, in the semifinals of the Terrific 12 tournament.
Down 12 in the first half, Guangzhou went to work in the third period, limiting the Thunders to only 12 points to take control of the game.
Seoul, with Lee Gwan Hee leading the charge, fought back in the early parts of the fourth, making it a four-point game, 70-66.
However, Shirelijian Muxtar waxed hot from deep, firing three triples to help the Long Lions pull away for good, 81-68, and complete the 26-point turnaround.
Kyle Fogg led the way for Guangzhou with 27 points, seven rebounds, seven assists. Muxtar fired 15, all from three-point range, while Mo Speights and Sun Minyang scored 14 points apiece.
For the Thunders, it was Ben Mbala that came through, posting 26 points and 12 boards.
Big Ben got help from Glenn Cosey with 16 points and from Lee Gwan Hee with 15 points.
The Guangzhou-Seoul showdown was a rematch from July's Super 8 Finals where the Long Lions beat the Thunders, 78-72, for the title.
Guangzhou will take on Japan's Ryukyu Golden Kings for the Terrific 12 championship while the Thunders dispute third place vs. Nagoya Sunday.
