Alab all set to defend crown in ABL’s biggest season yet
A tota of 10 teams will be waging war for the 2018-2019 crown

Year in and year out, the only thing to be expected from the Asean Basketball League is that the roster of teams will be bigger and the level of competition will be better.

That remains true in the league’s ninth season with a record 10 teams all set to wage war with each other. “From our humble beginnings, we are now an important player in the international basketball scene,” COO Jericho Ilagan said in the preseason press conference on Tuesday at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay.

Leading the way is defending champion Alab Pilipinas who will still have back-to-back MVP Ray Parks Jr. and Defensive Player of the Year Renaldo Balkman fronting the charge.

They will be challenged by last season’s runner-up Mono Vampire of Thailand as well as semifinalists Hong Kong Eastern and Macau Black Bears (formerly Chong Son Kung Fu).

Completing the cast of characters are the CLS Knights of Indonesia, the Formosa Dreamers of Chinese Taipei, the Saigon Heat of Vietnam, the Singapore Slingers, the Westports Malaysia Dragons, and new team Wolf Warriors from China.

With those 10 teams in the tournament, the ABL is only poised to keep making history. “The ABL’s purpose was to create basketball memories that would stand the test of time. For the past eight seasons until now, that has driven the league to greater heights,” Ilagan said.

Of course, the ABL’s newest and biggest season will still be LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on S+A, S+A HD, and via livestream.
