Joel Cagulangan yet again added to his clutch credentials in LSGH's come-from-behind win against JRU
Without a doubt, Joel Cagulangan is the most clutch player in all of high school.
LSGH’s graduating guard yet again proved that he has ice in his veins as he fired 17 of his 36 points in the last six minutes to front his team’s rally last Tuesday.
Down by nine at the 6:01 mark of the final frame, Cagulangan came to the rescue for the Greenies and scored all but seven points in a killer 24-0 run that stole a win from JRU High School.
Just in that killer run, the La Salle-commit fired four triples and two inside baskets and in all, he also had six assists, six rebounds, and four steals.
All of those were more than enough to catapult Cagulangan to the top spot of the Chooks-to-Go NBTC NCAA 24.
This is the fifth time LSGH’s floor leader has gotten the recognition – tying him with Mapua main man Clint Escamis for most thus far.
Exploits of the kind are already nothing new for Cagulangan as a year ago in the Greenies’ championship run, he won five games by his lonesome.
His partner-in-crime Joshua David stands behind him at the second spot after contributing 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists.
A pair of Red Robins then follow suit in long-limbed forward Jonnel Policarpio and do-it-all guard Dan Arches.
Arellano High’s man in the middle Aaron Fermin rounds out the top five.
Last week’s number one player Inand Fornilos of LSGH dropped to sixth this time around and is followed by JRU’s John Amoren, Mapua’s Clint Escamis, and the LPU duo of John Barba and Mac Guadana.

This year, there will be three separate editions of the NBTC 24 – one for the NCAA, one for the UAAP, and one for the CESAFI – to accommodate the Juniors calendar for the whole year.
After all three editions have been completed, a final list composing the top 24 players nationwide will then be chosen to participate in the annual NBTC All-Star Game in March.
