FIBA WORLD CUP: Yeng assures Gilas ready for Kazakhstan

MANILA, Philippines --- Gilas Pilipinas is ready to go.

On the eve of its home game against Kazakhstan, the Philippines has done all its necessary preparations for this crucial outing.

Gilas wrapped up one of its final preps Thursday at the MOA Arena, with the official 12-man lineup going over specifics before the big game.

"Were as ready as we can be," head coach Yeng Guiao said on his national team.

"We should be ready, we don't want to burn out the guys. We also want them to be well-rested for tomorrow. It's going to be a physical game, so we're ready for that," he added.

The Philippines destroyed Kazakhstan by 37 points in the Asian Games a couple of months back and so while that gives some sense of confidence on Gilas, you can never be too sure.

Coach Yeng has his team ready for anything new Kazakhstan might offer this time around.

"Sa nangyari doon sa Asian Games, I'm sure they'll make adjustments," Guiao said.

"So we cannot totally rely on what we did in the Asian Games. I’m sure they’re going to do something different. So we’re just putting in some options just in case they try to differ from their original game plan in the Asian Games," he added.

The Philippines and Kazakhstan will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the MOA Arena.
