FIBA WORLD CUP: Gilas look to bounce back vs. Iran
The Philippines plays its final home game of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Monday and the national team needs a victory in order to not lose significant ground.

MANILA, Philippines --- Gilas Pilipinas is in a must-win situation.

The Philippines plays its final home game of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers Monday and the national team needs a victory in order to not lose significant ground.

As it stands, Gilas has a 5-4 record in Group F, tied for third place with Japan. Iran is currently second with a 6-3 mark while Australia maintains no. 1 with an 8-1 record. The Boomers are through to the World Cup.

Gilas will host Iran Monday as the Philippines look to bounce back from a shock upset at the hands of Kazakhstan Friday.

Jayson Castro, Japeth Aguilar, Beau Belga, June Mar Fajardo, Marcio Lassiter, Gabe Norwood, Troy Rosario, Arwind Santos, Christian Standhardinger, LA Tenorio, Scottie Thompson, and Matthew Wright will see action for Gilas against the Iranians.

The Philippines already lost to Iran previously, taking a 73-81 beating at Tehran back in September.

Gilas-Iran will tip off at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the MOA Arena.
