Barefield tops Martin, but both shine in clash of Fil-Ams in US NCAA

Sedrick Barefield and Remy Martin led the way for their respective squads in a clash between promising Filipino-Americans in the US NCAA men's basketball tournament.
Barefield tallied a game-high 24 points to go long with six assists and four rebounds to lead the Utah Utes to a sensational come-from-behind 96-86 win against Martin and the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Arizona.
Martin, a member of the vaunted '23-for-23' pool that is set to represent the Philippines in the 2023 World Cup in Manila, led the Sun Devils with a team-high 22 points and six assists in the losing effort.
The Utes came from as much as 17 points down, using a sizzling 50-21 run 16 minutes to take stun the Sun Devils, who recently won a stunner of their own by way of a win against the ertswhile top-ranked team in Kansas.
This wasn't the first time the two squads and Fil-Ams faced off.
January 26 of last year, Barefield came up clutch in what was another close game, knocking down a booming triple and a clutch free throw to help Utah top Martin and Arizona State.
