UST is on the win column to start the new year.
The Growling Tigers made quick work of TIP, 66-55, last Saturday at the Trinity University of Asia Gym to score their first win in just their first game in the 2019 Milcu Sports Basketball presented by Got Skills Got Game Tournament.
Four different players were in double-digits led by Renze Abando who had 11 points to his name. Zachy Huang, Sherwin Concepcion, and Brent Paraiso all had 10 markers as well.
New foreign student-athlete Soulemane Chabi Yo also contributed nine points and eight rebounds as UST showed off newfound depth, with its reserves outscoring their counterparts, 41-21.
On the other hand, UP experienced a different fate, getting upset by home team Trinity, 61-74.
Pint-sized playmaker Levy Beltran was a problem all game long for the Maroons, scoring 24 points to go along with six steals, five rebounds, and two assists.
With him at the spearhead, Trinity dropped 41 points in the second half before coming away with the shock win.
Will Gozum paced UP with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
