The youngsters have been keeping up with the big guns of Mighty Sports-Pilipinas.
The competition, though, has not matched up with the Filipinos thus far in the 2019 Dubai International Basketball Tournament.
Reinforcements Randolph Morris and Justin Brownlee were a handful and were backstopped by local studs as the Philippines came out on top of the United Arab Emirates national team, 86-78, on Saturday night (Philippine time) at the Shabab-Al Ahli Club in Dubai.
Americans Morris and Brownlee collected 20 points, seven rebounds, and two assists and 18 markers, 11 boards, and two dimes, respectively, before sitting out much of the final frame.
That’s because through three quarters, Mighty-Pilipinas was dominating UAE.
They were flanked by Filipino-American Roosevelt Adams who wound up with 18 points.
Another Fil-Am in Jeremiah Gray also had much-welcome contributions of nine points and three rebounds while the University of the Philippines standout Juan Gomez de Liano also added nine markers, eight rebounds, and four assists for the Philippines which improved to 2-0 in the tournament.
Two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom didn’t even have to do much and only had five rebounds to his name.
Up next for Mighty-Pilipinas is Homenetmen – the champions of the Lebanese basketball League – on Sunday night (Philippine time).
