Gilas boys prepare for freezing temperatures in Kazakhstan
“Yun nga sabi nga nila, sabi ko nga, so wala tayong magagawa kundi talagang maglalaro.

It’s been cold in Manila recently, some people like it while some people don’t.

But if a tropical country like the Philippines is experiencing unusually cold weather, you can just imagine the countries that do experience winter.

It must be freezing.

That’s the predicament Gilas Pilipinas has particularly when the national team goes on the road to battle Kazakhstan in the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Gilas players are intrigued but prepared.

“Yun nga sabi nga nila, sabi ko nga, so wala tayong magagawa kundi talagang maglalaro.

“So hopefully makuha talaga yung Qatar muna, bago pag-isipan natin yung Kazakhstan,” he added.

For naturalized center Andray Blatche, the prospect of freezing temperatures in Kazakhstan mean nothing to him.

Blatche has had his fair share of cold-weather places in the past so let’s just say he’s well acclimated.

“It’s freezing cold in China, so it’s the same,” he said.

“We practice in freezing gyms in China so I’ll be okay,” Blatche added.

However, the rest of the Gilas boys don’t practice in freezing gyms so that’s why guard Scottie Thompson has a bit of a theory.

It’s the most Scottie answer out there.
