UST and National U are no longer perfect in the 2019 Milcu Sports Basketball presented by Got Skills Hard to Guard Tournament thanks to Trinity University of Asia and Lyceum, respectively, who both got the jump on them over the weekend at the Trinity Gym in Quezon City.

The home team leaned on Levy Beltran and Arvin Ortega to tame the Tigers, 59-40.

Both Beltran and Ortega scored 13 points. The former also had four assists and the latter added four steals to lead Trinity in pulling off the upset that hiked their record to 2-0.

On the other hand, UST suffered its first setback in three tries even after burly big man Germy Mahinay’s 15-point, 13-rebound double-double.

Also dealt their first defeat are the Bulldogs who succumbed to the Pirates, 63-71.

Playmaker Jaycee Marcelino continued to shine now in the starring role for Lyceum with 14 points. Youngsters Yancy Remulla and Enoch Valdez chipped in eight and seven markers, respectively, to help their crew improve to 3-2.

National U dropped to 2-1 despite a 17-point outburst from sharpshooter Migs Oczon.

In other results, UP (2-2) rode Will Gozum’s broad shoulders to power through STI Balagtas (2-3), 69-67, while TIP (2-3) used a balanced attack to down UCC (0-3), 80-37.
