Justin Brownlee and Mighty Sports-Pilipinas are yet to meet their match in the 2019 Dubai International Basketball Tournament.
Brownlee topped the scoring column and the Filipinos also had the best games from local youngsters Juan Gomez de Liano and Jeremiah Gray in their 108-94 triumph over Iraq’s Oil Sports on Friday (Philippine time) at the Shabab-Al Ahli Club in Dubai.
The American reinforcement, who made his name as a cult hero for Ginebra, did it all in this one with 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and two blocks.
He also had much-welcome contributions from the University of the Philippines stud GDL and Filipino-American high-flyer Gray who had 21 and 20 points, respectively.
Randolph Morris, another reinforcement, also added a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double while Roosevelt Adams, another Fil-Am, chipped in 19 markers and five boards of his own.
Now unbeaten through five games, Mighty-Pilipinas remains the favorite to win it all.
To do so, however, they will have to get back at Lebanon’s Al Riyadi on Saturday (Philippine time).
Last year, the Lebanese got the better of the Filipinos.
