Alab Pilipinas continues to be untouchable on its home soil
The last time PJ Ramos didn’t play for Alab Pilipinas, they suffered one of their few setbacks thus far in the 2018-2019 Asean Basketball League.
Renaldo Balkman and Caelan Tiongson made sure that wasn’t going to happen once more on Sunday in Laguna’s Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex, joining forces to power the Filipinos right through visiting Zhuhai all the way to a 108-81 blowout win.
Balkman had 20 points, nine assists, and six rebounds while Tiongson also added 14 markers and seven boards for the Philippines which won its second game in a row and 15th overall in 18 games.
It wasn’t just those two doing damage, however, as back-to-back Local MVP Ray Parks Jr. also joined in on the fun, particularly in the 13-0 run in the middle of the opening frame that turned a three-point deficit to a 19-9 advantage.
Alab would never look back from there to stay spotless in games played on its home soil.
Parks Jr. wound up with 17 points, five rebounds, and five assists and Lo Domingo chipped in 12 markers.
More impressively, they did this without the hulking Ramos who had to serve an automatic one-game suspension after having incurred his fifth technical foul in their game last Friday.
This is now the second game the Puerto Rican reinforcement has missed in the past four days, with the first one being due to a bad stomach. Then, the Filipinos succumbed to Hong Kong.
That definitely wasn’t the case in this one, though, as the Philippines got the jump on its visitors from the get-go.
