FIBA: Embrace unique World Cup chance says Norwood
With Gilas Pilipinas looking to make back-to-back World Cups, Norwood says they have to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them to create new memories as a national team.

Gabe Norwood’s been to the FIBA World Cup, he knows what it feels like there.

It’s amazing.

Norwood also knows what it takes to get there and he, together with the rest of Gilas Pilipinas, will have to dig deep in order to advance to China later this year.

“It’s really hard to put into words,” Norwod said of the World Cup.

“The memories you make, the whole thing was just amazing, from winning here at home to qualifying to actually being in Spain, training camp, everything, those are situations that you can’t duplicate,” he added.

With Gilas Pilipinas looking to make back-to-back World Cups, Norwood says they have to take advantage of the opportunity presented to them to create new memories as a national team.

The Philippines will have two chances to punch its ticket to the World Cup. The two road games are must-wins.

“Every situation is unique, that’s the driving force, the unique experience that you’ve never had before,” Norwood said.

“Hopefully, everybody embraces that and have the chance to build great memories that nobody doesn’t have,” he added.

As the veteran of the group, Norwood encourages his teammates to let go of the pressure of being put in stressful must-win situations.

“Enjoy it, embrace it. This is the chosen few that get the opportunity to get us to the next level,” Norwood said.

“When you embrace the opportunity and the situation, that’s when you’re able to play with freeflowingness and things like that. Enjoy the process and play hard,” he added.
