MPBL: Anderson on 12:01 a.m. start of All-Star: “Sanay ako”

The first-ever Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League All-Star Game was originally scheduled for Saturday at the MOA Arena.

However, for reasons beyond the upstart league’s control, the All-Star Game tipped off at an ungodly 12:01 a.m. Sunday, making the whole event an actual weekend for all intents and purposes.

Still, the league’s brightest star in terms of sheer popularity didn’t mind the super late start at all.

“Sa isang game na katulad nito, oo [first time],” Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson said of the All-Star Game’s midnight tip off.

Voted by fans into South’s starting lineup, Anderson, who plays for team Marikina in the MPBL, made sure to still go out despite the late start time.

Anderson finished with nine points and hit last-second triples in the second and third quarters.

“Alam siguro naman ng mga tao na hindi ako yung artista na sasali sa kung saan-saan you know. Pag nag-commit ako, binibigay ko talaga best ko,” he said.

“At the end of the day, nakapag-pasaya kami ng tao, uuwi sila ng naka-ngiti,” Anderson added.
