Kai Sotto will be leaving soon

It’s now final - Kai Sotto has played his last game in the Philippines.

That is for now, at the very least.

The Philippines’ 7-foot-2, 16-year-old prodigy announced in his Instagram Monday that he will be “leaving soon to start training full-time.”

He will be moving on from Ateneo de Manila High School even though he still has two years of eligibility in the UAAP Juniors “to devote the next two to three years to single-mindedly focus on my goal of joining the NBA by 2021 or 2022.”

Where exactly he is headed to is yet to be determined. What is certain is that it will be outside the Philippines.

Almost a month ago, it had been reported that Sotto has received offers from Spanish and German teams.

He will leave the country after his best individual season yet which saw him win the UAAP 81 MVP and also lift the Blue Eaglets to a runner-up finish.
