Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson is still holding on to the hope of possibly joining the Philippine national basketball team in the upcoming FIBA World Cup in China this August.
"I don't know yet, stay tuned, I hope to and I hope it happens," Clarkson told ABS-CBN News' Steve Angeles after the Cleveland Cavaliers' 132-108 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers.
Clarkson, who dropped 26 points in the Cavs' loss, would help Gilas Pilipinas immensely, as the Filipinos are classified in a loaded Group D opposite Angola and basketball powerhouses Serbia and Italy.
While he's still busy being the spark off the Cavaliers' bench, Clarkson will always have Gilas on his mind.
"Let's just be ready," he said, slightly smiling, "We're going in there trying to win and do a good job. I know a few of teammates playing in the world cup as well, so hopefully we got some wins over them and do what we gotta do."
The FIBA World Cup will take place from August 31 to September 15.
