Pasig Grindhouse Kings, the Philippines’ top 3x3 team, did not make the championship round of the 2019 Chooks-to-Go 3x3 Asia Pacific Super Quest after being stopped by eventual champion Tokyo Dime.exe of Japan, 11-16, in the semifinals, Sunday at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong.
Tomoya Ochiai paced Japan’s representatives with six points as they booked their ticket to the tournament Finals and, more importantly, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Doha Masters.
Even with the semis loss, though, Pasig will join Tokyo Dime.exe in Doha by virtue of winning the 2019 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas President's Cup.
The Philippine representatives got a big boost from Serbian reinforcement Nikola Pavlovic who topped the scoring column for them with five points.
Joshua Munzon, the top Filipino 3x3 player, scored four points while Taylor Statham also added two markers.
Aside from bringing home USD 7,000, Pasig Grindhouse Kings are all-set to compete in the Kunshan Challengers from May 18 to 19 thanks to their third-place finish.
