Jaycee Marcelino and LPU, as well as San Beda and Letran, improved to 2-0 in the 2019 Filoil Preseason

Expected to be the top three teams in the upcoming NCAA Season 95, all of San Beda University, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran have wasted no time in showing their might in the ongoing 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.

To start the day on Friday, the Red Lions mangled undermanned Mapua University, 80-63, inside the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Former NCAA Finals MVP Arnaud Noah was an end-to-end force in totaling 17 points, five rebounds, and three assists in just 17 minutes of play.

Their featured backcourt of Evan Nelle and James Canlas didn't even have to do much as they only merged for 15 points, five rebounds, and two assists, but still saw their team get off to a 30-11 start and never look back.

The Red Lions took full advantage of the absence of Warren Bonifacio and Justin Serrano, both serving one-game suspensions, en route to a 2-0 start to the preseason.

Also now at 2-0 are the Pirates who edged out Adamson University, 82-81.

Jaycee Marcelino fronted the attack once more with 19 points, including the game-winner, on top of seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals while twin brother Jayvee also added 10 markers, three boards, and three dimes.

Down by four with 21.9 ticks to go, the twins put their opponents in a pressure cooker the rest of the way and pushed forth a 5-0 run that eventually ended as a one-point win.

Keeping pace with the Red Lions and the Pirates, the Knights got the better of Far Eastern University, 75-70.

Larry Muyang posted 12 points, five rebounds, and two assists while Renato Ular also added 10 markers and seven boards as Letran had all the answers even though their opponents kept coming all game long.

Jeo Ambohot also chimed in nine points and seven rebounds to make sure they overcame the early exit of lead guard Jerrick Balanza who went back to the locker room with an apparent leg injury in the second quarter.

San Beda and LPU, last year's Finalists, are expected to continue their contention in the NCAA Season 95 tipping off in July. Bigger things are then expected from Letran which barged back into the Final Four last year.

With their respective losses, the Soaring Falcons dropped to 1-1 and the Cardinals dropped to 0-2. The Tamaraws, meanwhile, dropped their debut game.
