FIBA 3x3: Gilas women split pool play in Asia Cup

With a nice sweep of its qualifier games of the 2019 FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup, Gilas Pilipinas advance to the tournament proper Friday, running straight into Japan.
Gilas women took a 20-8 beating at the hands of the Japanese in Pool C, the national team’s first loss in Changsha, China.
The team led by former NU Lady Bulldog Afril Bernardino recovered to beat Sri Lanka, 21-6.
But with a 1-1 record, the Philippines is in a waiting game to see if the national team qualifies for the next round.
Gilas women had an impressive showing in the qualifiers, dominating Samoa (21-1) and Vanuatu (22-5) and escaping Taipei, 16-13.
