Arellano University finally broke through under new head coach Cholo Martin, pulling off a 75-69 upset of San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre

Archie Concepcion spearheaded the attack with 21 points while Rence Alcoriza chimed in 15 markers of his own as the Chiefs scored their first win in five games in the 2019 Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.

In doing so, they also put the first blemish on the erstwhile perfect record of the Golden Stags who dropped to 3-1.

Arellano’s breakthrough was made even more impressive by the fact that it was without floor leader Kent Salado who was attending to family matters as well as rotation big man Justin Arana who suffered an injury early in the game.

Still, the Chiefs overcame those obstacles and ultimately gifted coach Cholo his first win after replacing Jerry Codinera.

For Baste, RK Ilagan topped the scoring column with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University yet again showed its horns, dropping Emilio Aguinaldo College, 73-72.

Rising star L-Jay Gonzales showed the Tamaraws the way to an even 2-2 slate with 15 points.

On the other hand, the now 1-5 Generals were paced by Marwin Taywan with 26 points.
