FIBA 3x3: Dream run for Gilas women ends at the hands of top-ranked China

Gilas women’s dream 3x3 run in the FIBA U18 World Cup ends in the quarterfinals.
Entering the knockout rounds with a strong three-game winning streak, the fiesty Filipinas ran straight into top-ranked China in the quarterfinals.
There, Gilas absorbed a 12-21 loss to exit the tournament in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia Friday.
After a lopsided loss to no. 3 France to start pool play, Gilas women put together a strong run, highlighted by back-to-back wins at the buzzer in day 2 to advance.
With the loss to China however, the Philippines, ranked 14th in the World Cup, get a top-8 finish with a 3-2 mark.
Aside from China, also advancing to the semifinals were New Zealand, France, and the United States.
