With the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup just a few weeks away, Gilas Pilipinas Youth need to be complete for its training sessions.
Even though he is at the other end of the world, Kai Sotto made sure of that and he and his family are headed home from Atlanta.
The Sotto family left the US Thursday evening and will arrive on Friday.
With that, the 7-foot-2, 17-year-old will be in Manila just in time to re-unite with Gilas Youth as they gear up for the upcoming world meet in Greece.
This was all made possible with an assist from one of Kai’s biggest backers. “Whether nandito si Kai or sa labas ng bansa, our support will continue,” said Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas who arranged the homecoming of the Philippines’ newest basketball prodigy.
For that, the father and son Sottos are only thankful.
"Chooks-to-Go is my one and only corporate sponsor and financial supporter for my U19 campaign," said Kai. "Sobrang thankful ako sa kanila for making this happen."
"Maraming salamat talaga sa kanila dahil kahit saglit pa lang kami dito sa States, miss na namin ang Pilipinas. We can't wait to get back home," expressed Ervin.
