Gilas Youth will duke it out against world no. 9 Argentina, no. 15 Greece, and no. 19 Russia in the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup
As expected, Gilas Pilipinas Youth will be led into battle by twin towers Kai Sotto and AJ Edu for the 2019 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
The even better news, however, is that they will be flanked by several snipers for the world meet from June 29 to July 7 in Greece.
Of course, 7-foot-2, 17-year-old Sotto and 6-foot-10, 19-year-old Edu bannered the Philippine national youth team's final lineup revealed on Friday.
Surrounding them are Far Eastern University's Xyrus Torres, the University of the Philippines' James Spencer, and National University's Terrence Fortea and Migs Oczon - all knockdown shooters who will grant Sotto and Edu more room to operate.
Not to be left open from the outside as well are NU's Dave Ildefonso, San Beda University's Rhayyan Amsali, and Rome-based Filipino playmaker Dalph Panopio.
Rounding out the 12-man roster are Geo Chiu of Ateneo de Manila High School and NU's veteran pair of Gerry Abadiano and Carl Tamayo.
Gilas Youth is already in Greece following a training camp in Doha, Qatar.
In the World Cup, they will see action in Group C alongside world no. 9 Argentina, no. 15 Greece, and no. 19 Russia.
Calling the shots for the Philippine national youth team is Sandy Arespacochaga who will then be aided by Ryan Betia, JB Sison, and Charles Tiu.
